Sam Stevens

Student Pastor

Sam Stevens was raised in a Christian home, when he got to the University of South Carolina, he realized that he merely had a head-knowledge of God rather than a heart-knowing of Him. Sam would have told you that Jesus was “a” way, and “his” way, but not necessarily the only way. Through the influence of a godly discipler and the leading of the Holy Spirit, Sam came to profess genuine faith in Christ as a sophomore in college. After that, he became very active in lay leadership and ministry at various churches he attended, including Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, where he had the privilege of meeting and befriending Pastor Freddy. Sam has a heart for discipleship and a passion for teaching and preaching God’s word.  An Army and Gulf War veteran, Sam currently serves as the General Manager of a local moving company. He has four daughters, ages 9 through 14.

Holly Vanco

Kid's Director

Holly is the oldest of four kids and has attended North Point since she was 8 years old. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she studied Biology. During her time at USC, Holly began to feel called toward missions leading her to move to Haiti in 2021 where she serves as the Children’s Advancement Director for Disciples’ Village.  However, due to the political unrest in Haiti, she came back to the United States and has been unable to return. She looks forward to seeing what God has in store for this next chapter in her life and serving the children and families of North Point!

Holly’s favorite verses are Philippians 4:4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, all things coffee, and music.
